Airport to Downtown & BC Place

YVR to downtown guide. Canada Line SkyTrain, taxi, rideshare options.

Best Option: Canada Line SkyTrain

Canada Line (RECOMMENDED)
Platform: Underground platforms right under YVR terminal (follow signs from arrivals)
Cost: CAD $10.25 from airport (includes zone surcharge)
Time: 26 minutes to Waterfront Station downtown
Hours: 5:00 AM – 1:00 AM daily, runs every 6-8 minutes
Baggage: No restrictions. Roll-on suitcases welcome.
Why This: Reliable, cheap, no traffic, direct to downtown

Alternative Options

Taxi
Cost: Fixed flat rate CAD $35–40 to downtown
Time: 25–40 minutes depending on traffic
Tip: Avoid rush hour (4–7 PM). Taxis don't save time.
Uber / Lyft Rideshare
Cost: Similar to taxi, CAD $35–50
Pickup: Domestic Arrivals Level 2
Note: Standard rates apply (no surge pricing at airport by regulation)
Rental Car
NOT RECOMMENDED on match days. Road closures around BC Place make driving difficult.
Parking: Downtown hotels charge CAD $40–60/day for parking.
Best Move: Use SkyTrain on match days instead.

Money Tip: Currency Exchange

Do NOT exchange currency at the airport
Airport exchange rates are terrible (2–3% mark-up). Instead: (1) Use a downtown bank or ATM for better rates, or (2) Get a Wise card before you travel for mid-market rates with no hidden fees.
